I'm not great with colour...I've always loved working in pencil and charcoal, the blacks, greys and whites have always intrigued me. I was always fascinated how you can create extremes of light and change the mood of a piece using only one tool. I found my feet, developed my style and experimented with drawing in monochrome.
When it comes to watercolour painting I guess I'm the same. I love colourful and abstract work but I am most comfortable and I think I do my best work in one colour. Payne's Grey. This little tube is my go to for sketchbook work; it's my foundation for each piece. I love the texture, the way it dilutes and the range of colour it gives me. Sounds silly but it's like my favourite food or warmest blanket; the colour gives me confidence and stability and I love it, end of.
