ABOUT HARRY
Harry is a UK based illustrator and artist, influenced by the landscapes and wildlife that can be found near her home in Dorset.
Her work is driven by her passion for the outdoors and her desire to connect with nature and the landscape. Her work aims to express a sense of place and document her experiences outdoors. Working mainly in pen and ink, pencil, watercolour and gouache, Harry draws on her nature journaling, field paintings and on location research in order to produce layered illustrations and paintings for use in publishing, print and products. She will also use lino and monoprinting occasionally in her work to create unique textures and shapes. Clients include the National Trust, Exbury Gardens and Dorset Wildlife Trust. |
IN THE FIELD
|
"As most of my work stems from observational drawing, I try to spend as much time as possible outdoors.
I take my sketchbooks and pencils, camera and paint to record what I see. My nature journals help me to stay curious and develop my knowledge of the world around me. I love to work in all weather conditions and meet with people on adventures, whether it be on a mountain side, beach or in the woods. These encounters fuel and inform my studio working and many of the marks made on location are included in my final images." |
IN THE STUDIO
|
"My studio practice is routed in image making and pattern, informed by my drawing out on location.
When back in the studio I use drawings and other research ephemera to form the basis of a complex body of work that I can then refine for specific projects. I love working with watercolour, stencils, screen print and lino and often combine print and hand drawn elements when creating final images. I also love making digital images with Procreate, and using both traditional and digital techniques to create interesting patterns and paintings." |
