EXHIBITION AT THE VILLA

For July, August and September I have been exhibiting some new work based on patterns found in nature. I have used a variety of different media including watercolour, ink, lino cut and printing techniques to create and reproduce a range of patterns based around leaves, trees, animals, insects and the patterns I see around me.

I have produced sample images that will then go on a form a collection of prints that will be reproduced onto fabric and other products for sale.

The exhibition is on until the end of September. For more information

INSPIRED BY NATURE

The Brownsea Island Villa will be hosting a variety of artists who have been inspired by Nature, Poole Harbour and the Jurassic Coast.  This exhibition will showcase a variety of media, styles and subject matter. Original works, cards and prints will be on sale, including my stuff so please check it out!!

Lives and Landscapes - 15 JUNE - 20 JULY 2018

WORKS INSPIRED AND A RESPONSE TO THE HIDES OF BROWNSEA
This exhibition will show a combination of works - both from sketchbooks and finished pieces - that reflect what can be seen and heard from the various bird hides that are dotted around the Dorset Wildlife Trust nature reserve on Brownsea island.

The exhibition will also feature works made in and inspired by the Dorset coastline and the various hideaways that I enjoy across the county.

Original paintings, screenprints and cards will be on sale and orders taken for edition prints of particular works.

new etsy shop going live on 1st may!

To celebrate my birthday this year I'm going to do something a little different...open an Etsy shop!

About a year ago or so my sister and I had a small concession at a vintage and artisan market in Wimborne called Toad Hall. I sold my prints, cards and other designs and she sold fashion and gifts. We did fairly well but after a while couldn't commit to it full time and so sadly we gave it up.

Since then I have been selling my work ad hoc to various customers and kind of bumbling along on the sales side, picking up commissions, doing regular illustration work for clients and pursuing my own projects. But in the last few months people have been asking me if I have an online shop and I always reply 'unfortunately, no'. I get so frustrated in my my other part time job that not more is done online as it's so quick and easy for everyone involved...I'm working very hard to bring my other work up to speed, so why haven't I just done it in my creative life? The answer is...I don't have a good answer. But all that will change, soon.

I'm biting the bullet, giving it a whirl, taking the plunge.

madebyharry will be live on Etsy on 1st June this year.

I wanted to finally share my news about a new project. I am now a regular contributor for Dorset Magazine!

I will be illustrating the monthly article 'Return of the Native', written by the lovely Adam Lee. My approach and style may change as I am only just bedding into the role but as this is my first regular job as an editorial illustrator, I am excited to see how the relationship develops with the team and to see what other opportunities the partnership might bring.

Look out for an new edition each month or subscribe online at Dorset Magazine.co.uk

EXHIBITION UPDATE - DENVER USA

Legendeer is dedicated to embedding artists back into the world. They design tools and programs to facilitate creative pioneers in pursuit of authenticity and cultural impact across a broad range of mediums.

In the spring of 2017  I travelled to Zion National Park in Utah to join the Legendeer programme for a week.

During the programme, participants of Legendeer Zion sat for Portrait sessions.  Photographer and artist Mahting Putelis explored our growth as artists and delved into conversations surrounding community, creation, empowerment, humility, and more.

This series of Portraits was exhibited in Denver, CO. in November 2017, along with original art created by the artists. The art created was sold at silent auction as contribution to the 2019 Legendeer Scholarship Fund. I am pleased to say that I sent two pieces which were both sold on the night of the preview to an American collector.
